It is very important for every plumber to have the basic plumbing tools when going to work. Having the right plumbing tools can make the repairs simple and very easy. Among every plumber's tool box, there should be a few basic plumbing tools that should always stay there. The tools that every plumber must have when on a job play a great role in every plumbing task that plumbers face. Some of the tools that every plumber should keep are:
1. Pliers
Plumbers used to be well known for bringing a pipe wrench with them on just about every single job. Even though the pipe wrench is still a very handy plumbing tool, the wrench has been replaced with channel locks. The new tool used in place of the pipe wrench is very handy and quick. It can take care of a plumbing job with great ease. The pliers work even better when in pairs, one to unscrew and the other to stabilize the pipe. Having a few different sized pliers can make plumbing projects simpler and easier.
2. Basic Wrench
This tool is sometimes referred to as the "sink wrench" and is a very handy tool. This tool can be very useful when you have to change out an old faucet in the laundry, bathroom, or kitchen sink. The basic wrench is a helpful self tightening wrench that can be used to tighten or loosen fittings in places that are difficult to reach. When a plumber buys this tool, he usually purchases one that has a telescoping shank that can hold a 90 degree position on its own in order to make things simpler.
3. Pipe Wrenches
A necessity and a basic requirement in nearly all plumbing projects that should be kept in a plumber's tool box at all time. Pipe wrenches prove to be very helpful when it comes to threaded items like iron pipes. Various fittings like yard hydrants, nipples on the water heater and the pressure regulators will call for the use of pipe wrenches to offer enough leverage to help unscrew them. Keeping a few different sized pipe wrenches would be a wise idea.
4. Torch and Solder Box
Working with copper pipes and soldering pipes requires the use of a torch and a solder box. A solder box usually contains a pipe cutter, reaming tool, flux and brush, emory cloth and pipe cleaning brushes.
