Radiant floor heating is all the rage right now and well it should be. Radiant heat is one of the best kinds of heat and is also one of the more efficient types of heat on the market.

So why should I scrap my old big furnace for this new system? Well its quite simple actually... it's just better. Your traditional furnace fires at 100% every time you need heat. So what this means is that your furnace runs quite piggish since it cannot fire its burner any other way. If your thermostat indicates that the room temperature has dropped just a little the furnace will fire full blast just to satisfy this very little heat demand. With a radiant heating boiler you don't have that problem. Why you ask? It's because the boiler is a condensing boiler and has the capability of firing only 60% of its burners. So what this means is that if your house requires just a little amount of heat only 60% of the boiler will turn on to satisfy the need vs. your furnace which would fire 100% of its burners to satisfy the rooms heating needs. This allows you to save a large chunk of change on your gas bill every year.

Size is another benefit of these systems. One small little boiler that is no bigger then the back end of your dinning room chair can do many different applications.

Domestic water: One of the things that this boiler can do is heat your domestic water. How it works is that the water in the boiler is separate then the water in the domestic hot water storage tank. The water the comes out of your taps is not directly heated by the boiler it is actually indirectly heated. This is done through a heat exchanger, which is a copper coil which is filled with the hot boiler water, which is then run through the hot water storage tank that indirectly heats the domestic water.

In-floor heating: While your boiler is heating your domestic water it can also heat your floors. This is done by running Werbo plastic piping through your floor. Either done through a template or laid on the unfinished floor and then concrete is poured on top. The boiler heats the water in its copper tubes and sends it to a heat manifold. The manifold then sends to heat down the separated lines that were run under your floor. The heat circulates through the floor, thus heating it and the return water then comes back up and is directed back into the boiler where it is to be reheated and recirculated back into the system.

Fan Coil units: This is similar to how a a furnace operates. Imagine a furnace but with out a burner and that pretty much how this system works. Where the burners would be is now a fan coil unit. How this unit works is that the hot water that is made in the boiler unit is delivered to the fan coil unit. The hot water circulates through all these coils in the fan coil system. When it gets hot enough a large fan which is located under the heating coils is turned on thus blowing the hot air through out the house.

Radiant heat is best since it does not eat as much natural gas as your traditional furnace.
